Diversity Resources

The College of Education strives to foster an inclusive climate that is welcoming to all groups and individuals. We recognize that our efforts necessitate a continuing examination of all recruitment efforts; curriculum and pedagogy; institutional practices, and structures.

Office of Minority Recruitment and Retention

With a focus on diversity and social justice, the UW College of Education Office of Minority Recruitment and Retention is committed to equity and access for all students.

Educators for Social Justice (ESJ)

Educators for Social Justice (ESJ) advocates for awareness, understanding, and action within the College of Education and the field of education, as well as in the community. This student group promotes and advocates for multiculturalism throughout the College with the goal of increasing the ethnic and racial diversity of educators who work in common schools, colleges, and universities while building a supportive and dynamic College community.

International Educators of the College of Education (IECE)

International Educators of the College of Education (IECE) consists of a group of unified international students representing different countries within our global community and devoted to providing a welcoming and nurturing environment within the College‚Äôs international student community. IECE promotes the cultural understanding, awareness, and community building efforts for international students throughout the College of Education with the dedicated mission of increasing the sense of global citizenship. 

Center for Multicultural Education

The Center for Multicultural Education focuses on research projects and activities designed to improve practice related to equity issues, intergroup relations, and the achievement of all students.

Dr. James A. Banks, the Kerry and Linda Killinger Professor of Diversity Studies and an award-winning multicultural education scholar and pioneer, is the Director of the Center.
